Thomas Humphry Ward

(Thomas) Humphry Ward (1845 - 1926) was an English author and journalist, born at Hull, England. He studied at Brasenose College, Oxford, at which he became a fellow in 1869 and a tutor in 1870. His compositions consisted of editorials which he submitted to The Times. Additionally, he edited The Spanish Poets (four volumes, 1880), a notable anthology; Men of the reign (1885); The Reign of Queen Victoria (1887); English Art in the Public Galleries of London (1888); and Men of the Time (twelfth edition). (T.) H. Ward wrote alone Humphry Sandwith, a Memoir (1884), and jointly The Oxford Spectator (1868) and Romney (1904). He was the husband of Mary Augusta Ward
