Babette Deutsch (22 September 1895 – 13 November 1982) was an US poet, critic, translator, and novelist.

Born in New York City, she wrote on a diverse range of topics. Deutsch was married to critic Avrahm Yarmolinsky. She published poems in magazines such as the North American Review and the New Republic while still a student at Barnard College.

To her, "The poet ... like the lover ... is a person unable to reconcile what he knows with what he feels. His peculiarity is that he is under a certain compulsion to do so."
