Nathan Haskell Dole (1852-1935) was an American editor, translator, and author, born at Chelsea, Mass. He attended Phillips Academy, Andover, and graduated at Harvard University in 1874. He was for some time active as a writer and journalist in Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. He translated, notably, many of the works of Tolstoi, and books of other Russians; novels of the Spaniard Valdés (1886-90); a variety of works from the French and Italian.
