Hiram Corson
Hiram Corson (6 November 1828-1911) was an American professor of literature.
Corson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1828.
His teaching career included positions at Girard College, St. Johns College, Annapolis, and Cornell University. He also worked in the library of the Smithsonian Institution.
As a professor, Corson's focus was Anglo-Saxon and English literature.
Books authored by Corson include A Hand-Book of Anglo-Saxon and Early English, An Elocutionary Manual, A Primer of English Verse, and An Introduction to the Study of Shakespeare (as well as similar introductions regarding Browning (1899) and Milton). Corson also translated the Satires of Juvenal.
